Don't just pour some blue soapy liquid in a bucket with water and expect that you'll get a clean floor. It's not advisable to use vinegar, the acid in vinegar will open up the floor to more dirt and bacteria. The owners of Decorative Concrete Kits stumbled into the floor cleaning market by necessity. According to one of the partners they were hearing great results from clients who had installed stained concrete and epoxy floors. Clients love them for many reasons, they solve function and design issues for many interior floors.
The problem clients were having was how they looked 6 months to a year later. A few hair salons and restaurants had noticed the floors becoming smeared looking, the shine and clarity wasn't there from the beginning.
A few high traffic grocery stores who had concrete stains applied were loving their floors. In most cases they were looking better than just after the floors were new and finished.
It turns out that most grocery stores were masters at maintaining floors, they used specific products and accordingly a specific cleaning strategy. Image and cleanliness are critical in a grocery store and so is cost.
It's important to effective cleaning to know the proper cleaning agents and systems. Restaurants, hair salons, retailers, schools, hospitals and medical buildings all need specific products.
Each use has unique sources of dirt, grime and grease. Hair sprays require different cleaning agents to remove than the food grease that gets on a floor in a restaurant. Retail store floors get lots of scuff marks from slow scuffling feet that are like sand paper on a floor.
Salt in winter tracked onto floors and black asphalt marks tracked in from hot parking lots are cleaned with specific cleaners.
Then there is the occasional scrub & recoat process which is a mild stripping of worn finish coats on the floor and reapplication of 2 new coats. This restores the floor to new than back to the cleaning system.
Like with any project the proper tools make all the difference. It's critical to do it right to keep clean and healthy and a substantial cost savings to doing it wrong.
